It’s award season and I’m just giddy with Glee! WHEE! Lots of Red Carpet Beauty means LOTS of blogging…so tune in regularly to the Makeup Vanity for step by step, play by play, how to, beauty tips for all of your favorite looks!
So, I’m not often very surprised at the looks on the Red Carpet. The Smokey Eye, the Red Lip, the Nude Face…blah, blah, blah….fa, la, la….we love them all…they’re classic looks and techniques that ALWAYS work but I love it when the interpretation of these looks evolves a little bit.
Meet the Nude Eye and Bold, Matte Lip
I have to say, I love this look and it stood out right away. It’s a fresh, modern interpretation of a classic look. Bright Matte Pink and Coral have replaced the traditional Red Lip and the eyes are soft and neutral but warmer than the eye that would traditionally accompany the Red Lip…it’s fresh and pretty and a look that works on anyone of any age, skin tone or coloring…NO joke!
The lip can be as bold or as soft as you like, but the key is it should be MATTE…Yes ladies, skip the finger lickin’ good GLOSS! PLEASE! (Yes…I’m yelling)
For the eyes, choose a medium brown shadow for the lid but make sure it has a reddish, warm under tone. (no mousy browns, please…you know who you are) And the best part is, there’s no liner necessary…just a sweep of shadow on the lids…a little shadow underneath , if you like…lots of mascara and off you go!
