So, it’s Oscar countdown week…YAY! And truly, it’s the ONLY thing that gets me through dreary February every year. (UMM…it’s snowing again??) I can’t WAIT to see the Red Carpet glitz and glam and I only have one more movie to tick off my list:) I’m ready…even the menu is planned (ham and manchego croquettes and chicken paella…just in case you were interested…)
So to kick off of Oscar Week…I have a special treat! If you tuned in to the blog last year, I gave you a little background about my family’s history in Hollywood. My great grandfather, Robert C. Bruce, Sr., was Director of Photography for Paramount Pictures and was credited for his work creating outdoor scenic shorts. And my grandfather, Robert C. Bruce Jr., was an actor and producer. He started his career well before moving pictures, on old fashioned radio, and was also one of the voices for Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes. Here’s the tribute to both of them from last years countdown:)
So…here is a 1944 Merrie Melodies cartoon celebrating the Academy Awards, featuring Bugs Bunny and narrated by Robert C. Bruce Jr. (aka. Grandpa:) “What’s Cookin’ Doc?“….will Bugs win the Oscar?
