Gosh…I don’t even know where to start here! I’d been cooking up this project for awhile. I love vintage looks…that’s no surprise, and wanted to create looks from each decade gone by and thought using “real women” (aka. my friends) would be fun. Everyone really can look like a celebrity..here’s the proof!
So here it is…two solid days of “Big Girl” dress up, quiche and tea sandwiches, mimosas and a little Dean Martin crooning in the background, just for effect! D*** this was fun!!! And talk about a trooper! Photographer Robert Norman, also a fan of all things kitchy and old, was kind enough to not only shoot the project, but let us invade his house, experimented with vintage lighting techniques and even turned a few lucky ladies into movie posters and album covers. What??!! Spectacular!!
So here are the “Celebrity Looks for Real Women”…
Cheryl as inspired by the moody and mysterious 1930′s Clara Bow
And Antonia…a dead ringer for 1940′s Veronica Lake
Inspired by squeaky clean 1950′s housewives everywhere…Kirsty as Doris Day ( and note: this is shot in Robert’s very 1950′s bathroom!)
And Elisabeth as the very glamourous Elizabeth Taylor in her early 1960′s heyday (or the “good years” as we called it)
And what would the uber-mod 1960′s be without Twiggy?
and last, but definitely not least…Sonia “Space Vixen” Baghdady as Barbarella
And I leave you with a little Love from Lena with Sparky Kenton and his Orchestra
And a great big SHOUT OUT to the ladies of Fashionista Vintage and Variety in New Haven…not only did they help me put looks together for each “celebrity”…but they shared their champagne! :) This is the vintage clothing bomb-diggity! Check it!
And just a few more crafty folks contributed to the fun:
